Bluesman Kenny Miller passes on

The Detroit Blues Society is reporting the death of Mount Clemens blues guitarist-singer-harmonica player Kenny Miller.

Miller released two CDs: "Midnight Groove," a live recording at Chrissy's Lounge in Mount Clemens originally released in 1990; and the studio album "Kenny's Blues" (1996).   Both have been re-issued on No Cover Records (www.nocover.net).

Grammy nominees announced


The nominees for the 54th annual Grammy Awards have been announced.
Receiving nominations in the Best Blues Album category were: “Low Country Blues” (Rounder) by Gregg Allman, “Roadside Attractions” (Alligator) by Marcia Ball, “Man In Motion” (Stax Records) by Warren Haynes, “The Reflection” (Yolabelle International/Ryko Records) by Keb’ Mo’, and “Revelator” (Masterworks) by the Tedeschi Trucks Band.
Nominated in the Best Album Notes category was “Hear Me Howling!: Blues, Ballads & Beyond As Recorded By The San Francisco Bay By Chris Strachwitz In The 1960s” (Arhoolie Records) by writer Adam Machado.
The Grammys will be broadcast at 8 p.m. Feb. 12, 2012 on CBS.
